In the many years that I have lived and worked here on the Costa Blanca I have helped organise, and have played for many, many weddings, so I thought I'd like to pass on a few tips to you and explain something about the entertainment that I can offer for your special day.
Here is a typical scenario of how I am usually involved in a wedding, and how it works;
* My first job is usually to play as guests are arriving before the ceremony.
I start playing about a half hour before the ceremony begins so that the right atmosphere is created. This is on Spanish guitar. I find the lighter type of latin and easy listening classical pieces are perfect.
If needed, I have a P.A. and a radio microphone available. It's important that everyone can hear the service.
* My next job is to play for the ceremony itself.
First, the bride walks up the aisle, or the red carpet. Very often, as we are here on the coast, ceremonies are held outside overlooking the beautiful blue Mediterranean Sea.
The bride's favourite choice for many years has been 'Cavatina', the theme from 'The Deer Hunter'. This piece of music accompanies the bride, and whoever is accompanying her, to her place for the ceremony.
* The ceremony then begins and proceeds to where the marriage book is signed. Here I usually play 'Romance d'Amor'. It is a piece that everybody is familiar with.
* Following on, and sometimes after more readings, the bride and groom are pronounced 'Man and Wife'. Here I often play the first movement from Rodrigo's guitar concerto, the 'Concierto d'Aranjuez'. Everyone knows this happy piece, and those who don't will still love it for its truly Spanish flavour.
Of course my duties don't always end there. I'm often called upon to play for an hour or so after the service for the 'Cava and Canapes', which is 'Champagne and Aperitif'. These are usually served before the formal dinner.
Very often I'm asked to supply a band for dancing through the evening, and if you go my 'Musical Services' page you'll see that I can supply anything you require in the way of live entertainment.
I can even arrange a DJ for the more up-to-date sounds.
Also, as mentioned in my 'Musical Services' page, my wife, Suzanna, who is a classically trained dancer, and myself are often called upon to perform our Spanish show at weddings. We find that half way through the evening meal is the perfect time to add a touch of real Spanish music, and the glamour of Spain to the occasion.
And for wedding decoration look no futher. Suzanna's other business venture is as an event decorator. For more information go to www.globoslocos-spain.com
At Suzanna's sumptuous website you'll get many fresh ideas and see examples of her excellent work.
As an after thought: We've found that the fewer people involved in the organisation of your wedding the better. It is so important to have complete control of all of the arrangements.
And of course we only work with the very best caterers, cake makers, and florists. We are also in touch with any other service that you may require for that special day.
